A few of my first signs, and a question
« on: February 20, 2017, 12:32:25 AM »
Here is a quick design sign to show appreciation to the cooks at my school, and a sign of what I'd like to call my side business.

One question I have is, can anyone tell me a more effective way to paint oak.  I am shellacking it about 3 coats, then contact paper, then I carve it.    I  apply the paint and let it dry then sand.  I've been finding that the contact paper seems to always let some paint in and when I go to sand it off, it gets really engrained into the wood.

Any suggestions?

I put sealer on before I cut and then after the cutting I paint and then sand with orbital sander. works for me.

Tom, do you spray paint or hand paint mostly?
